Knott's Scary Farm

So this year we went to Knott's Scary Farm for our Halloween excitement.  Last year we went to Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights and had a blast.  This year we decided to try something new for our Halloween excitement and went to Knott's Scary Farm.  We were joined by my sister and her friend.  We left early so we would not get stuck in traffic and also so we could stop a few places along the way.  Luckily traffic was smooth and we were able to quickly get to our hotel in Anaheim.  Once again we stayed at the Stanford Inn and Suites.  We got to our room around 3 pm and took the next 3 hours to nap and relax.

We left our hotel at 6 pm and headed over to Knott's Berry Farm (15 minutes from our hotel).  Parking was $20 dollars in the Knott's parking lot.  There weren't very many people waiting to get in at 6:15 pm which made me hopeful it wouldn't be to busy.  This was the first time we actual made it to the park before they open so we were able to get the full effect from the start.  Knott's opened their gates at about 6:30 pm to start moving people through.  They have a security check before going inside so it takes a little bit of time to get through.

Since we were early we had to wait what seemed like forever for them to begin.  They started at exactly 7 pm and we quickly made our way to the back of the park for our first maze Forevermore.
Forevermore is a new maze for this years Halloween Haunt at Knott's Scary Farm.  It is where the mind of Edgar Allen Poe comes alive through the Forevermore Killer.  In the maze we see that all the victims who have gone crazy by a combination of drugs and torture.  The victims find themselves as part of "The Raven," "The Tell-Tale Heart," and "The Pit and the Pendulum" just to name a few.  I really enjoyed this maze (even though a lot of it was seen through closed
eyes) I have always found Edgar Allen Poe interesting so it was fun to see Knott's take on him through their maze.

The next maze we went through was Pinocchio Unstrung.  This maze is a returning maze that has always creeped me out.  In this maze Pinocchio returns with an army of marionettes ready to kill his former masters.  The characters in this maze are truly creepy.

Once we were done with the Pinocchio maze we made our way over to  Callico Square for The Hanging: A Gothic Fairytale.  This is a show they do every year in different variations,  This year there are Hollywood executives trying to find a new super hero to base their new movie on.  I was not impressed with their show this year.  If you do go to Knott's for the Halloween Horror Nights I recommend skipping The Hanging and spending your time trying to do all the mazes or even other shows.

After the show we made our way over to Panda Express for dinner.  Word of advice: If you plan on going eat dinner before going in.  The food is extremely expensive inside the park.  It was $11 for a 1 side 2 entree plate.  Once everyone was done with dinner we made our way over to continue going through mazes.  At this point it was starting to get very busy.  Our next maze was was Black Magic.  This maze was new for this year and probably one of my favorites this year.  This maze features Houdini's ghost that was called upon during a seance.  Each room features different illusions performed by Houdini.

Next we made our way over to Mirror, Mirror another new maze for 2013.  Unfortunately, we were unable to make it through this maze.  When we got there we were told that the wait for this maze would be 2 hours.  We got in line with hopes that it would go by faster than they had said.  We waited for about 15 minutes and decided to try a faster maze.

Right next to Mirror, Mirror was Uncle Willy's Slaughter House.  This was another returning maze that creeps me out.  This maze reminds me of the Chainsaw Massacre (in a less scary way).  Inside this maze Uncle Willy fills his victims with BBQ sauce, get them nice and fat, and with his chainsaw cuts them up and makes them into a nice meal.  This is probably my least favorite maze at the park and one I would normally not go through.

After The Slaughter House we made our way over to Dominion of the Damned and Delirium.  These two mazes are connected.  First you make your way through Dominion of the Damned. This maze I am not sure what exactly is going on through it all I know is it vampire related.  This maze was new for 2013.  I did not see a lot of the maze because I was scared through most of it!  After Dominion of the Damned we got into the mini line outside it and went straight into Delirium.  This is the freakiest maze there (I think) before you walk in the wall is covered with eyes looking at you and blinking.  I had my eyes closed during the whole thing and had to have Tommy guide me through.

Tommy's thoughts: If someone tries to tell you that Universal is scarier than Knott's, I'm going to point them to this maze... and definitely don't hide your face like someone that I won't name.  They single you out and torture you the whole time.  It was hilarious honestly.

The last maze we went through was the Gunslinger's Grave.  This was another new maze for 2013 and not one that I was very impressed with.  This maze was an Old Western maze where you take a journey back into time and experience the terror the town went through.  Personally,  I did not find this maze scary and was left wanting more.

After our last maze we decide to try one last time Mirror, Mirror and wait in line again.  After about an hour of waiting we are all tired and ready to go home that we decide to just give up and head over to the Elvira's Sinema Seance.  Elvira, Mistress of the Dark is back performing in her very own show at Knott's Scary Farm.  This show is full of sass, comedy, and dancing.  I really enjoyed the show.  I was not sure as to who Elvira was before the show but learned a lot about her during and after the show.  My favorite part was the dancers that performed during the show.  The dancers were incredible which is to be expected they were The Academy of Villains from America's Got Talent.  I was extremely impressed with their dancing and performing abilities.

It was about 1:15am when the show let out so we made our way back to the car and headed back to our hotel to finally sleep.  We were all exhausted by the long day but had so much fun and could not wait to make it to Disneyland later.
