Anniversary Weekend Friday 9/20/13- Disneyland Tour

Today we woke up bright and early to get ready for our tour at Disneyland.  We stayed at the Stanford Inn and Suites (formally known as Comfort Inn MainGate) and were lucky enough to have breakfast included.  For as cheap as the hotel was I was not expecting anything special.  Usually we stay at the Camelot Inn which is located right across the street from the main gate.  The rooms are fairly pricy and the breakfast is usually just toast, cereal, oatmeal, stale donuts and muffins, and fruit.  So as you can imagine we were expecting something similar or worse from our new hotel.  We were thankfully surprised to find that this breakfast was much more filling and versatile than the one we had received at Camelot.  There was sausage, eggs, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, waffles, toast, bagels, donuts, and drinks.

Tommy's thoughts - Tapatio on eggs is a must.
It was not anything fancy but it was much better than we expected.  We highly recommend staying at the Stanford Inn and Suites.  It is a mile from the main gate but with the money you save on not only the room (parking is free) but the breakfast you can pay the $16 and drive while still saving yourself the money rather than getting a room close to the main gate and paying almost $400 for 2 nights and having to pay parking and possible for breakfast on top of the $400.

After breakfast we walked over to Disneyland for our tour.  We signed up to do the Walk in Walt's Disneyland Footsteps Guided Tour.  It was 87.20 per person with our Annual Pass discount.  It was our first tour that we have been on and one that we recommend to anyone who is interested.  It is about 3 hours long and includes lunch at then end.  As Disney fanatics we thought it would be a good idea for us to try something new and learn more about the park and the man who had a dream to create it. During this tour we had the opportunity to check out a few park lover's favorites.

Tommy's Thoughts - The tour was a bit pricey for what it was but it was still interesting.  Seeing inside club 33 isn't something a lot of people get to do, and we learned about a few random things that most people ignore like the petrified tree.  Walt's apartment was still the highlight because it was like stepping back in time.  It has been so well preserved that it felt like they could still be living there.

After our tour we hung out at Disneyland for a few more hours before walking back to our room to get ready for the Trading Event and also dinner at Carthay Circle.  As I got ready and did my hair and make-up Tommy took a nice nap.  At around 4:15 pm I was finally ready to go and we were on our way to the event. We of course had to walk the mile back but we walked quickly to get there on time.  If you would like to read about the Trading Event I included the link for anyone interested.  I typed up a different post on it because we had so much to talk about that happened there.  I also included dinner at Carthay Circle and the World of Color in a separate post.
